"There are conflicting forecasts today but everyone is a little concerned right now about it being too dry in Argentina," a soya trader said.
At 10:04 am CST (1604 GMT), CBOT soya was up 3-1/2 cents to down 2-1/2 cents per bushel, with January up 1/2 at $6.11-1/2 per bushel. March was up 1 at $6.23-1/4.
Pit sources said Refco-Man was the key buyer of 400 March.
The fundamental focus on the CBOT trading floor was the shifting weather patterns in South America.
Meteorlogix weather service said showers in Brazil over the next several days would retain good soya growing conditions but drier and hotter weather is expected by early next week.
In Argentina, hotter and drier weather is causing some concern about the fate of the soya and corn crops, Meteorlogix said.
Exports were quiet overnight. The market was still dealing with talk about China seeking soyabeans. Export sources said at mid-week there was talk China bought a cargo of Argentine soyabeans.
Soyameal futures were 70 cents to $1.40 per ton lower, with January down 90 at $201.50 per ton. March was down 90 at $201.70.
Soyaoil was 0.39 to 0.49 cent per lb higher, with January up 0.39 at 21.23 cents per lb. March was up 0.35 at 21.57 cents.
